The Wolfman

Since the word "algedonic" pertains to both pleasure and pain, I felt it necessary to include something painful.

The link above leads to that of the trailer for the new movie called, The Wolfman. It is actually somewhat painful to watch because it looks like it is going to be a train wreck filled with cliche. Maybe there is a reason why they have pushed back the release date three times.

Halloween Costume Anyone?

You have to check out the link below for it's originality. The man is wearing a Transformers costume that actually transforms.

Unfortunately, I doubt that I will be able to pull off anything that is so elaborate for Halloween this year.

District 9

I went and saw this movie earlier this week and left the theater quite impressed. For those that are unaware of this film, it is shot in a documentary format telling the story of a man who headed up a division of the group called Multi-National United, MNU. In the movie, MNU is charged with policing and keeping track of an area near the city of Johannesburg, deemed District 9, which had become the area where a race of aliens had come to call home. The aliens were marooned on Earth when their space ship was damaged and couldn't leave orbit. Therefore, there have no choice but to find an existence on a planet ruled by the human race.

The plot of the movie centers around how the aliens were being treated by humans and the efforts of one particular alien who was attempting to repair the ship and bring his brethren to safety. I don't want to give much away, but as long as you can suspend disbelief and overlook a few plot holes, you will be pleased by the unique plot.

The CGI was fantastic for a relatively low budget film. The aliens are believable and they aren't hidden like many movies have become accustomed too. This movie isn't like Signs where you will only see one or two aliens. In District 9, they are everywhere.

The acting was also very believable with many unknown actors putting on a fine show. Some movies with great plots and great special effects can be ruined by horrible acting. District 9 isn't one of them.

Peter Jackson, you have done it again. District 9 is a great flick the breaths a breath of fresh air in a usual stagnant Hollywood.

A Year Has Flown By

It has almost been a year and time flies. School started up again so it gives me more time to procrastinate. Thus, blogging shall resume.
