Flash forward to today.
I was walking back to my car after my last class of the day. There was this weird siren going off and I didn't know what it was at first. It became clear when I got closer that it was a fire alarm going off in the athletic dorm. I must have got there early because no police or firemen were there yet. Good thing because I would have missed the spectacle.
A couple minutes later not one, not two, not four, but six fire trucks were on scene. That doesn't count the few police cars that showed up to make sure no precious athletes were harmed. This time, just like the last fire alarm that I saw on campus, it was clear that there was no fire. I just thought it was slightly amusing at the difference in reaction with the difference in location. It just goes to show where UT's priorities really lie.
